Middle School Short Courses​

It's never too early to learn good writing skills

Middle School Grammar 

  • Our 12-week intensive middle school grammar program is open to all 7th and 8th graders

  • Students will strengthen their knowledge and application of grammar basics

  • Students will be able to
    • Know English grammar and explain how it works
    • Use English grammar to evaluate their own writing
    • Diagram sentences to analyze the structure of language

  • Grammar topics typically covered in this course include but are not limited to:
    • Parts of speech
    • Subject-verb agreement
    • Types of verbs
    • Punctuation 

Middle School Language Mechanics

  • This course is the next step for students who completed Middle School Grammar and for students who are interested in grammar application and writing practice

  • Students strengthen their fundamental writing skills

  • Students will practice sentence constructions to increase sentence variety and clarity

  • Students will learn to
    • Spot common errors 
    • Use clear transitions
    • Implement proper punctuation
    • Craft effective sentences and paragraphs

Middle School Vocabulary Building

  • Students learn methods of vocabulary building with handpicked word lists

  • Instead of focusing on rote memorization, students will practice correct word usage through writing

  • Students master multiple definitions and incorporate correct grammar to synthesize sentences

  • Instructors provide practical skills such as mnemonic devices and Greek and Latin roots
